The reason I didn’t just switch over to DVI-D after I discovered this issue was mainly because of my desire to find out what went wrong. The receiving display device adds the luma signal from the Y lead back to the blue. This is what drove me to initially use DisplayPort. Note that in the foregoing discussion, there is no mention of a green. I have a personal dislike of DVI cables and the way you have to screw them in. I wanted to make full use of the 144Hz functionality on the monitors, and to do so I would have to use either DisplayPort or DVI-D. On the left monitor I could see “DisplayPort- No Signal”, and on the right was my usual desktop. I made sure all the cables were tight, unplugged them and replugged them- sure enough I even turned it off and on again- but to no avail. They plug directly into an Nvidia GTX 1080. With 8K Resolution at 60Hz, you can focus on the details, without a blink. My PC set-up consists of two 144Hz monitors connected via DisplayPort cables. : 2m VESA Certified DisplayPort 1.4 Cable - 8K 60Hz. A bit of background - why use DisplayPort anyway? It was fine the day before, and it hadn’t been touched that day, so what gives? Let me back up a little… (unless you’re too eager and just want to see the solution). Use the DisplayPort cable on another monitor to confirm if it’s in good condition. The DisplayPort cable is broken, frayed, or substandard. The cable may be plugged loosely in the port. The monitor’s DisplayPort may be damaged. I recently faced a hardware issue on my PC at home whereby one of my two monitors seemed to suddenly no longer connect when I booted. The following could cause the No DP signal from your device error: 1. HDMI has the same issue - When you loose the DP signal, if you unplug the cable from the GPU or monitor then reconnect it, does it re-initialise the signal or does it require a system reboot to fix? It requires a complete reboot - When does the display output disappear? Is it at completely random times or is there anything in common (like high power draw or opening a particular application or something)? It is totally random it can happen in an application or just on the desktop - It is probably unlikely, but its always worth a check is the GPU seated correctly in the PCI-e slot, and are the power cables connected correctly? Check to make sure they aren't loose.DisplayPort no signal: The question “ have you tried turning it off and on again?” gets joked about a lot in computing when someone has a problem, it’s well known that a quick reboot often works a treat. The keyboard shortcut should reboot the graphics driver (which can be very useful in some situations). ![]() Edit: Something else I just thought of is to try pressing Win+Ctrl+Shift+B when you loose the display signal. ![]() When does the display output disappear? First of all though, did the HDMI cable have the same loss of display output issue? - If the HDMI cable works fine, swap back to DisplayPort and test if you loose the display signal on 60Hz or on a lower resolution. 5) If possible, cross-test the monitor with multiple devices using DisplayPort and verify at least one device shows a signal. ![]() First of all though, did the HDMI cable have the same loss of display output issue? - If the HDMI cable works fine, swap back to DisplayPort and test if you loose the display signal on 60Hz or on a lower resolution.
